It is rare to find wing chairs upholstered in needlework both inside and out, especially when its condition is as well preserved as on this example. Very similar needlework can be found on a wing chair formerly in the celebrated Percival Griffiths Collection and now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as part of the Untermyer bequest.
