A George III black and gold japanned table clock by Henry Kemp on original wall bracket.

Note: The japanning has survived in virtually untouched condition.

The clock is fitted with an eight-day time and strike fusee movement with original verge escapement, and a rare original Dutch striking mechanism sounding the succeeding hour on a smaller bell. The break arch dial has a silvered strike/silence subsidiary, and a Roman numeral engraved chapter ring with a recessed maker’s boss engraved ‘Henry Kemp, London’.
